Josh Scobee: I Let The Team Down

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 in overtime Thursday night.

For fans, losing to the Ravens is bad enough, but it appears this one is particularly hard to swallow.

Josh Scobee, the team's third kicker this year, missed two critical field goals late in the fourth quarter. The first miss came from 49 yards out with 2:24 to play. He would miss again from 41 yards with about a minute left.

The misses opened the door for the Ravens. A 42-yard field goal by Justin Tucker with 3 seconds left forced overtime.

With about five minutes to play in overtime, Tucker drilled a 52-yard field goal to give Baltimore their first win of the season.

"I let the team down and [it's] not something I ever want to remember doing. Just a bad feeling. It was a hard fought game on both sides and I wish I would have been able to come through, but it just wasn't my night," Scobee said.

This marks the second time this season that Scobee has whiffed on two field goals in the same game. Both times, the Steelers have gone on to lose the game.

"I was ready for the second one, just the same thing happened - started it down the middle and it drifted really far left," Scobee said.

For the year, Scobee has made just six of his 10 field goal attempts. That has some wondering if Scobee will still be the Steelers' kicker going forward.

"Can't think about that stuff. Just have to let it play out," Scobee said.

Should the Steelers replace Scobee, a familiar face threw his hat into the ring last night.

Fans also weighed in on Scobee after the loss.

Regardless of what happens, the Steelers will look to get back on track when they head to San Diego to take on the Chargers next Monday.

According to KDKA's Bob Pompeani, the Steelers are expected to hold kicker tryouts. He says former Redskins kicker Kai Forbath is among those expected be invited.
