John Wehner Analyzes The Pirates' Lineup

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Pirates' Broadcaster John Wehner joined Tab Douglas on the eve of Opening Day to preview the Pirates' lineup. Wehner took Tab position by position and talked about the team's strengths and weaknesses.

He talks about the problems facing the Pirates on the right side at first base and right field. Tab asks him about Gaby Sanchez facing left handers vs. right handers and Wehner.

"Gaby has faced righties his whole life," he said.  "That doesn't concern me as much."

He thinks Ishikawa and Sanchez will do a solid job.

However, "the jury is out on Travis Snider," says Wehner. He notes this could be his last opportunity. He says the 5-6 spot is going to be the catalyst for this team because, "they are going to get a ton of RBI opportunities."

Wehner finishes by talking about the Pirates' pitching staff. Tab asks about ideas of a sophomore slump for Gerrit Cole, which Wehner thinks those thoughts were put to bed during Spring Training. He also touches on the bullpen and what we will see out of Edison Volquez.
