Jitney Driver Shot In Both Legs After South Side Attempted Robbery

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a jitney driver was shot in the South Side late Sunday afternoon.

The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety says police and paramedics were sent to the intersection of Jane and S. 21st Streets in the South Side Flats around 4:40 p.m. for a report that a man had been shot.

A 64-year-old man was shot twice, once in each leg, and he was sent to UPMC Mercy in critical condition.

The Department of Public Safety says based on the initial investigation, they believe the victim is a jitney driver who was attempting to flee his vehicle during an attempted robbery.

Two black men wearing dark clothing were seen fleeing the vehicle on foot and heading toward E. Carson Street and S. 21st Street.

Anyone with information that may help the investigation should call 911.
