Jesse Spector: Huntington Ranked 11th Among MLB GM's

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Sporting News released rankings of all 30 MLB general managers. Jesse Spector explained to Tab Douglas and Stacy Kauffman why he ranked Neal Huntington at No. 11.

"What concerns me is what's happened this year with Gregory Polanco, and not bringing him up and not adapting to a situation where you're no longer building to be a winner," Spector said. "This is your window to be a contending team for the next several years."

Douglas brought up that other teams have kept top prospects in the minors to avoid Super 2 status.

"At some point, you have to stop worrying about the service time stuff. If you're going to have this guy for six years and that's it, then so be it," Spector said.

Spector added that the Brewers have taken a step forward, which should put more urgency on getting something done this year.

Spector did give credit to Huntington for the Ike Davis trade.

"Credit to the Pirates for waiting it out and not panicking, overpaying somebody," Spector said. "They get a guy who's still a talented player, still a guy who hit 30 home runs not that long ago, still has that power."
