Jazz Great Wynton Marsalis Will Perform At Pittsburgh Promise Gala

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - There is some big news this morning for jazz fans and people who help support the Pittsburgh Promise.

The Pittsburgh Promise has announced that jazz great Wynton Marsalis will be performing at this year's gala in November.

"A Night of a Million Possibilities" is an exclusive gala evening that helps raise money for the Pittsburgh Promise Scholarship Fund, which helps send local students to college.

The Pittsburgh Promise expects to raise $1 million at the Nov. 10 gala at the Wyndham Grand Hotel.

"Pittsburgh's future depends on helping its young people to fulfill their dreams,"  Marsalis said. "I'm so glad to be part of a musical celebration in Pittsburgh, where the community comes together to fund education."

Marsalis is an internationally acclaimed musician, composer, bandleader and educator. He has recorded more than 80 jazz an classical albums, selling more than 7 million copies worldwide.

He also has won nine Grammy awards. He also won a Pulitzer Prize back in 1997, and has written six books in his career.

"A Night of a Million Possibilities" will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. It's at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. Individual tickets are $250 and table sponsorships start at $2,500.
