Jared Hughes: We Notice Growing Support For The Pirates

BRADENTON (93-7 The Fan) – Pirates pitcher Jared Hughes sat down with "The Fan Morning Show" at Spring Training in Bradenton this week to chat with the guys about his offseason and the Bucs' preparations for the 2015 season.

Hughes talked a bit about what it means to him and his team to see the fans energized by the team's play.

"You see it everywhere," Hughes said. "I remember driving to the field last year and there's this little diner I would pass called Totin's and they would have signs out that say, 'Let's Go Bucs!' You see all the stores with the signs out that say, 'Let's Go Bucs!' The push later in the season is always exciting for everybody, and you just see the crowd and the fans are everywhere - they're all over the city - and it's really nice as a player to see that type of support. It really fires you up early in the day when you're going to get breakfast, even."

Hughes also discussed the other side of things - players becoming more enthusiastic about being part of what's going on in Pittsburgh.

"It's great," Hughes said. "Everybody wants to be a part of our team. People are just foaming at the mouth. It's, 'Sign with the Pirates, because this is where it's at, and this is where you're going to win at!'As a player who has come up through the organization here, that's what I want. I want this team to win. I bleed black and yellow. I've been playing here for so long. I want to see us go out there this year with all these good new players and win a World Series."

"The Fan Morning Show" will be broadcasting live from Bradenton all week long.
