Man charged with shooting another man in the face at Irwin apartment complex
A man is facing multiple charges after police said he shot another man in the face at an apartment complex in Westmoreland County.
Irwin police said officers and county detectives responded to the Bevington Building along Sweetbriar Drive within the Villages of Easton Apartment Complex after a call came in around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office said detectives learned a man who had been shot in the face was driven to a hospital before he was flown to a trauma center. He's expected to survive.
Investigators said the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Jason Powell, ran from the scene but was found about two hours later by Pennsylvania State Police after an alert was put out.
The district attorney's office said it's believed the shooting wasn't intentional. According to the criminal complaint, witnesses told police that while they were in an apartment, Powell had his gun out of his holster and was displaying it to the victim. Witnesses told police that Powell shot the victim in the face, hitting him in the mouth.
Powell was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault. The district attorney's office said he was arraigned on Thursday.
