Investigators Mark 3rd Anniversary Of Deadly Bank Robbery By Releasing New Details

SOUTH STRABANE (KDKA) -- South Strabane Police, the FBI and the Washington County District Attorney have scheduled a news conference Thursday morning to share "additional information" in the 2013 bank robbery.

Vincent Kelley, 46, of Washington County, was shot and killed during the incident.

Kelley and a friend were shopping in the Giant Eagle in South Strabane Township on June 16, 2013. It was a Sunday afternoon, Father's Day, when a man held up a Citizens Bank branch located inside the store.

Kelley chased the robber as he fled with a bag of money. He ran out of the store, after the suspect and jumped into the getaway car.

Kelley was then shot by the robber, he fell out of the vehicle and the suspect fled.

Police said the robber sped away in a white, mid-sized sedan. A red dye pack hidden in the money exploded.

Sources tell KDKA-TV News that there has not been an arrest in the case, but to mark the third anniversary of Kelley's death, law enforcement wants to provide new details.

They hope it may help them catch the killer.

Suzanne Kelley, the victim's sister-in-law, told KDKA's Ralph Iannotti, "I thought they would have caught someone by now, but they haven't. There's been other robberies [in the area], and every time there's one, I go to the police station or call police and ask, 'What do you think? Do you think that's him?'"

Kelley added, "We want justice; we want closure so Vinnie can rest in peace."
