Ike Taylor Says It Was A "No Brainer" To Stay With Steelers

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Steelers CB Ike Taylor explained to KDKA's Bob Pompeani on his show Saturday why he chose to take the pay cut to stay with the Steelers.

"I'm going on 34," Taylor said. "They don't pay corners at that age. I had to be realistic about it. I had to face reality and not let pride get in the way."

Taylor said he has had a great relationship with the Rooneys, Dick LeBeau, the fans and the city in general. He also said his son's mother lives here and this has been his home for a majority of his 33 years.

"It was a no brainer," Taylor said. "I wanted to remain a Steeler, so it was just a matter of coming to an agreement on a number."

Taylor also tells Bob that they still have enough left on this team to be a competitive team. He is just glad to be a part of it. He never wanted to play anywhere else.

Taylor's deal is a one-year deal, and Bob asked him if he would consider playing beyond the deal even if it meant playing for another team.

"If Pittsburgh wants me to continue playing for them, I will" Taylor said. "If not, I am going to hang the cleats up."
