Icy Roads May Have Led To Fatal Crash In Armstrong County

PARKS TOWNSHIP (KDKA)- Police are looking into the exact cause of a deadly crash in Armstrong County.

A pick-up truck crashed along Dime Road, also known as Alternate Route 66, in Parks Township.

Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers identified the victim as Cody Brown, 23, of Kittanning.

Myers says Brown was driving north on Dime Road, left the road, struck a bank and rolled over. Brown was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

The road was a sheet of ice overnight, due to melting snow from the surrounding hills and a nearby creek, which covered it with some water.

It appears the icy conditions led to the crash, but police are still investigating.

Salt trucks were called to the accident scene to treat the roads.
