Washington Man Killed In I-79 Crash

WASHINGTON COUNTY (KDKA) -- One person was killed in a crash on I-79 in Washington County late Monday morning.

It happened just after 11 a.m. on I-79 near Racetrack Road.

The victim has been identified as 69-year-old Michael Anthony Gordon, of Washington, Pa.

State police say Gordon was traveling northbound on I-79 behind a tractor trailer when the tractor trailer slowed down due to roadwork in the area. Gordon was unable to slow down in time and tried to swerve, but he crashed into the back of the tractor trailer, causing the vehicle to roll several times.

According to state police, Gordon was not restrained at the time of the crash.

Gordon was pronounced dead at the scene just before noon.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
