Falling Temperatures Create Slick Conditions
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- State police shut down a section of Interstate 79 for about 30 minutes Sunday due to icy conditions.
The closure was in effect at mile marker 75.5, near the Warrendale Exit.
Allegheny County reported that the road will remain closed until salt trucks can treat the roadway.

Around 8 p.m., PennDOT reported that the road was back open.
According to our partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, crashes were reported on the northbound lanes of I-79 near Cranberry and in north and southbound lanes of Interstate 279.
In Gibsonia, the intersection of Weford and Gibsonia Roads was shut down. Officials said the issue was not as much snow as it was falling temperatures.
"We had to shut down the road due to very icy conditions, we had to wait for PennDOT to come, and salt the roads a couple of times," said Jacob Ballard with the Wexford Pine Township Fire Department. "When the temperatures dropped, it froze the road pretty quick and we weren't prepared for that."
The City of Pittsburgh tweeted that they would have two trucks in each division overnight.
