Hundreds Of Volunteers Wrap Gifts For Batch Foundation Toy Drive

HOMESTEAD (KDKA) -- Hundreds of volunteers attended a Homestead gift-wrapping party organized by a Steelers veteran's foundation Saturday.

The Best of the Batch Foundation, founded by former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, organized the event.

Volunteers helped to wrap toys and other holiday gifts to hand out during the "Batch A Toys" holiday toy drive.

Batch said he's thankful for the volunteers who made the event possible.

"When you see people out here volunteering their time on a Saturday, coming out here and really believing in what we're doing, I mean, it's just truly, truly a blessing to be in this position," he said.

Batch and his wife, Latasha Wilson-Batch, personally deliver the toys and household items to children and families at the Women's Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and Children's Hospital and families in need in Allegheny County.

Since the program started, more than 30,000 toys have been collected and given to children in need. The foundation also collects and donates household items, such as kitchenware, towels and laundry baskets.
