Hulton Bridge Construction Nears Completion

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Thursday afternoon downpour on the Hulton Bridge was an accent to what crews have been dealing with the last couple of weeks as they try to get the roadway ready.

"Yeah, weather impacted us, we were hoping to have it open this week," said PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan.

Barricades are still up and the bridge still narrows to a single lane, rolling down into Oakmont. From the end of the bridge on to Allegheny Avenue, the road has been milled. It is just waiting for its final coating of asphalt and line painting. But that's all weather-dependent.

"The left lane will continue on Hulton Road and the right lane will be forced to turn on Allegheny Avenue," Cowan said.

One thing it won't change is the 'turn onto the bridge dance' on the Freeport Road side, which has reportedly caused a few road rage exchanges.
