Vacant House Destroyed In West Mifflin Fire

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) - A vacant home in West Mifflin was destroyed by fire early Monday morning.

According to officials at the scene, flames broke out around 1 a.m. at the house on West Street.

Andre Knight was hanging out with friends in a nearby park when he spotted a huge cloud of smoke.

He walked down the street to see what was happening and noticed the flames.

"Massive. it was humongous," he said.

Gregory Parker also saw the fire when he looked out the window at a friend's house.

He went outside and shot video on his cell phone.

"It was crazy," Parker said. "I never saw anything like it before in my life."

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal was on scene for hours this morning.

Witnesses told police they heard breaking glass just moments before seeing the smoke and flames.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
