House Destroyed By Fire In North Belle Vernon

NORTH BELLE VERNON (KDKA) - Firefighters battled a big fire in North Belle Vernon Tuesday morning.

The fire started just after 4 a.m. at a home in the 300-block of Speer Street. Firefighters say the house was vacant and had no electricity running to it.

A neighbor said the fire was huge and even caused the home's roof to collapse.

"The side caved in, the roof caved in," said neighbor Darlene Hefner. "It's a very old home, I lived there for a long time. Many memories of holidays and birthdays inside that home."

The flames were so intense that it melted some of the siding on the house next door.

Officials are investigating the fire as arson. Crews are tearing down part of the home so they can have better access to determine the cause of the fire.

No one was hurt.

Firefighters are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
