Honored Youth Counselor Charged With Stealing From Clients

GREENSBURG  (AP) - A youth counselor honored by a western Pennsylvania county last year is being sought by authorities on charges he stole $26,000 from his clients.

Mandu "Mike" Ikpe, 32, was honored by Westmoreland County juvenile authorities last fall for his work with Alternative Living Solutions. The agency helps people aged 16 to 21 to make the transition from the criminal justice system to adult life.

But now an audit shows that money is missing from client accounts and Westmoreland County criminal authorities have charged Ikpe with theft and receiving stolen property.

They say he was supposed to meet with the agency officials, but hasn't been seen since.

Authorities say Ikpe spent money that his clients earned at their jobs for his own personal use.

Authorities continued looking for him Tuesday.
