2 Injured In Homewood Shooting, Police Investigating
HOMEWOOD (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Police are investigating after two people were shot in Homewood Wednesday morning.
According to police, two people were shot outside of a convenience store on Frankstown Avenue shortly after 11 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old male and a 62-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg.
Police believe the male victim was walking toward North Homewood Avenue when the suspect emerged from the side of a building and opened fire. The female victim was shot as she was walking in front of a business.
"She just left my house and was on her way home," said Bonnie Terry, a friend of the victim.
Both victims sought help at a nearby convenience store.
"Both the victims ran into the corner store here and called for help," Pittsburgh Police spokeswoman Emily Schaffer said.
Witnesses said the suspect fled toward Idlewild Street in a car.
Detectives recovered 11 shell casings at the scene. They plan to review surveillance video in hopes of tracking down the suspect.
Both victims were last listed in stable condition at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
