Fire Destroys House In Homewood

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Fire poured from a house in Homewood Thursday morning, destroying the structure.

According to emergency officials, the two-alarm fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. along Baxter Street, near Brushton Avenue.

Officials say it was a school police officer passing by the home that first spotted the fire.

"A school police officer was coming by and saw the fire, and then called it in to 911," said Pittsburgh Police spokesperson Alicia George.

Officials have not yet said how much damaged was done, but the roof was charred and the windows broken out.

No injuries were reported.
