Police Seek Suspects After 2 Teens Wounded In Homestead Drive-By Shooting
HOMESTEAD (KDKA) -- Police are looking for suspects after two teens were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Homestead.
Allegheny County Police say the two victims, both 17, were shot in the torso. One is in critical condition and the other in stable condition at a local hospital.
The shooting was reported just before 9 p.m. Monday along West Street.
According to police, the two teens were walking to a convenience store when they were shot at.
"They come in. They're frequent customers. I know them and it's sad because I don't see them getting in trouble at all," said the manager of A to Z Convenience in Homestead.
"She heard the shooting. She ducked to get away from the windows." The manager of A to Z Convenience is talking about the clerk who was working the register when the shooting happened Monday night.
"You never know if it's coming your way or not," she said.
Investigators say witnesses reported seeing a silver-colored SUV fleeing the area around the same time as the shooting.
"I don't let my son outside. I just don't let him outside. I don't let him outside because of the raucous. You never know," said Homestead resident Tina Miles.
Tina Miles has a 16-year-old son.
"My stomach hurt because that could've been my son just walking where I live to the store to get a tea, a pop, a juice. and got shot. Nooo, no, no, no, no," said Miles.
Police said at least 10 shots went off. They don't know who fired them, however, witnesses reported a silver SUV taking off after the shooting happened. Police are trying to figure out if the teens were targeted.
"All children need guidance, but you have to be a parent. You have to be the adult. I hear everyone in my generation saying the kids, the kids, the kids, but if you aren't an adult, you do your adult duty," said Miles.
Allegheny County Police detectives and Homestead Police are investigating.
