Hit-And-Run Crash Shuts Down Westmoreland Co. Road

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Investigators are still putting together the pieces of what happened on Route 22 in Westmoreland County on Thursday, but it snarled traffic in the area for hours.

Police say it started at the intersection of Route 22 and 981.

According to police accounts, a driver in a Grey Silverado truck came through intersection, hit another vehicle and never stopped.

Then the truck kept going headed west on Route 22 and at the intersection with 119 hit a second vehicle. Sources say the driver of that car was headed to lunch when the two collided.

Police say both the driver of the car and the Silverado truck, were transported to a Pittsburgh hospital. They are expected to recover.

Officers have not released the identity of the hit-and-run driver, or what charges they may face.
