Hero Security Guard Recovering After Franklin Regional Stabbing

MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) -- One of the many heroes to emerge from Wednesday's tragedy at Franklin Regional High School is a school security guard who was the first adult to encounter the stabbing suspect.

Jay Resetar, 69, is among those injured in the knife attack.

Resetar was working to usher students out of the building, when he was approached by the assailant.

"We have always been proud of him," said Doug Resetar, the victim's son. "He's been our hero all his life, like he needed another reason."

Resetar was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.

His son says Resetar is looking forward to getting back to work.
