PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh woman has taken to social media to look for the Good Samaritan who helped after a car accident.

The kids at Twin Rivers Elementary School in the McKeesport School District were putting on their holiday show for family and friends, and 4th grade teacher Rachel Garland was not about to miss her "babies" perform. No one in the school would have thought twice if she had stayed home.

"After I sit down, I do feel that pain so I do hobble a little bit," Garland said.

Wednesday afternoon, she was pulling out of a parking lot on Long Run Road when she was hit in her driver's door.

"I saw the car coming in terms of, like, I saw it was about to hit me, but there was no way that I had any chance to move or do anything," Garland said.

Garland immediately felt pain in her left arm and leg. The car door was crushed and she could not get out of the car.

"The young lady who I call my angel came over almost right away," Garland said.

She was on the phone calling to report the accident and then reached through the shattered window and took Rachel's hand.

"She just said, 'I'm here with you. You just had an accident, I'm glad you're OK. I called the police for you, we got that started and they should be on their way' and that's when she said, 'I'm going to pray for you,'" Garland said.

As the traffic whizzed by, Garland became concerned for her angel's safety and encouraged her to let go of her hand and get safely on the curb.

"She said I'm not going anywhere. I said I don't want you to get hurt and she was like, it's OK, I'm gonna be fine, they're not going to hit me, and she just stayed there," Garland said.

Until the first responders arrived, along with Rachel's brother.

"And she stood there with my brother and made sure he was calm and everything. The next thing I knew she was gone," Garland said.

Now Garland is on a mission to find her angel and has asked Facebook for help. Her post has more than 1,600 shares and climbing. But still there has been no sign of her "angel."

Garland hopes someone will know her and encourage her to reach out through her Facebook page "Rachel Joi" or by contacting the KDKA Newsroom at (412) 575-2245.

Garland just wants to say thanks.

"She grabbed my hand and held onto me like a family member. It meant so much to me. And I need her to know that. I need her to understand that it wasn't a just a little peace, it was a lot to me," Garland said.
