Harrisville Building Being Rebuilt Due To Fire, Burns Again

HARRISVILLE (KDKA) -- Investigators are trying to figure out what started a fire that destroyed a building under construction in Butler County.

The three-alarm fire started in the six-hundred block of East Mercer Street in Harrisville.

The building that caught fire was located at a construction site where new homes were being built. Three apartments were located inside. Thick smoke and flames could be seen pouring from the building, which was nearly leveled by the fire.

Owner Eric Snyder said he knew it was bad before he arrived.

"I got out on Route 8 and I could see the black smoke going straight up in the air, so I knew it was bad," he said.

This isn't the first time a fire has ravaged that particular construction site. In May 2015, a fire destroyed a building in the same location. It was being rebuilt when the fire started Thursday morning.

Eric Snyder says he plans to rebuild again.
