Habitat For Humanity Donates 79th Home To Local Woman

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A local family was gifted with a home for the holidays Saturday.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh donated their 79th home Saturday morning.

Tamika Duck and her family moved to the Pittsburgh area three years ago. Despite having two high-level degrees, she struggled to find a job that would provide for her two children. She and her family wound up in a women's center.

Saturday, she got a new home in Penn Hills from Habitat for Humanity.

"It's overwhelming, it really is," she said. "It's surprising. I did not think I was gonna be here at this time, coming from where I came from. But I'm grateful and it was a blessing, and I give my credit to him because I know without God I would not be here."

The home was made possible by a $60,000 anonymous donation in honor of Pope Francis.
