Gun Goes Off During Easter Church Service In Altoona

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Altoona churchgoers were startled when a gun went off during Easter services.

CBS affiliate WTAJ in Altoona reports that the gun went off at the Cathedral of Blessed Sacrament Saturday night.

Police are calling the incident an accident, but some church members were startled by the event.

"I immediately took a step back and was about to take cover," a man named Jason told the station. "You never know if you're safe anymore in this world and it's a shame to know you can't even go into church without having something like this happen."

The station reports that the owner of the gun did have a permit.
