Grilli, Martin Placed On Disabled List After Suffering Injuries

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Tony Sanchez will take over for Pirates pitcher Jason Grilli.

The team announced Saturday that the Triple-A Indianapolis player will take over after Grilli was placed on the 15-day disabled list – retroactive to April 21.

Grilli suffered a strained left oblique.

Sanchez returns to the team after he spent time as a member on Opening Day.

Catcher Russell Martin is also on the 15-day disabled list.

He suffered a strained left hamstring and pitcher Jared Hughes will take over for him.
