Police: Man Found Passed Out After Drinking With Pot On Burning Stove

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- A Westmoreland County man is facing charges, accused of nearly starting a fire at a Greensburg apartment building after passing out while drinking.

Police were called to the building on Keener Way just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Fire and smoke alarms began going off inside the building, and witnesses say smoke was pouring from inside the apartment.

Residents fled the building, thinking it was about to catch fire.

According to the criminal complaint, an officer found Brian Reed passed out in one of the apartments with a pot left on a hot stove.

It took police and firefighters several attempts to wake Reed, investigators said.

Police say they found "numerous glass bongs," and asked Reed "what else he took."

The criminal complaint reports Reed laughed, then told officers "that he drank a 'Four Loko'" before passing out.

Once removed from the building, Reed, allegedly in an altered state, kept asking neighbors, "Why are all these people here?"

Once the building was cleared, residents were allowed back inside.

Reed is free on $5,000 unsecured bond.
