Gov.-Elect Wolf Names Picks To Lead Human Resources, Health Departments

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Gov.-elect Tom Wolf says he will name a top Maryland state official as secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and a former northeastern Pennsylvania hospital official as his secretary of the Department of Health.

Wolf said Saturday that Ted Dallas, secretary of the Maryland Department of Human Resources, would provide leadership needed to run the human services department "efficiently and effectively."

He said Karen Murphy, former chief executive officer of Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, has "an extensive understanding of the health care industry" and substantial executive experience.

Wolf said Gary Tennis will remain secretary of the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs and Dr. Rachel Levine will be physician general.

All of the appointments other than that of physician general will require approval by the Pennsylvania Senate.
