Girls Killed In Dresser Accident Remembered At Vigil

BEAVER COUNTY (KDKA) – Emotions were raw in Aliquippa Monday night.

David Beatty's remaining daughter griped her father after the deaths of his two other daughters Brooklyn and Ryeley.

The pain was evident and hard to watch.

It was Friday, July 4 when a dresser drawer the 2- and 3-year-old girls were playing inside caused the entire dresser to collapse on them, suffocating the sisters.

"It can happen in a split second," said David Beatty. "That's the biggest thing I've seen, accidents can happen so damn fast and you have no clue it's gonna come."

The Beatty family members are now leaning on each other to get through the devastating and uncertain time.

Two sons and a daughter remain alongside their grieving parents and community.

The girls' mother says the sisters acted like twins.

"Two peas in a pod," said Jennifer Beatty. "One did something, the other was, like, right there."

In the end, they left this Earth together in an unexpected and tragic way.

"You see the news stories like this on the TV and everything and you never think it's gonna be you, but you never know," said David Beatty.
