Giant Eagle Recalls New Year's Pretzels Over Walnut Allergy Concerns

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Giant Eagle has issued a recall for New Year's Eve pretzel baked goods due to nut allergy concerns.

According to Giant Eagle, about 23,000 of the pretzels were bought at Giant Eagle and Market District stores in Pennsylvania and at two stores in northeast Ohio.

Walnuts, which was an ingredient in the pretzels, was not listed as an allergen on the label.

The pretzels were prepared and sold from Giant Eagle and Market District bakery departments starting on Dec. 26.

Giant Eagle says one customer reported a walnut allergy issue.

Customers with walnut allergies who bought the product should throw it away or return it to their Giant Eagle or Market District for a refund.
