Get Marty: Neighborhood Construction Leaves Gaping Holes In Bloomfield Home
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A Bloomfield couple desperate to get the City of Pittsburgh to fix gaping holes in their home reached out to Get Marty.
"It's been terrible," says Charles Carter, 82.
Carter lives on North Millvale Street. He lives in a row house. The home next door was collapsing. As part of a well-intentioned city program, the home was torn down.
"They tore down the neighbor's house and left big holes in my walls. Cold air came through and my pipes broke," says Carter.

Get Marty reached out to the mayor's office and got an immediate response. A text message from Chief of Staff Kevin Acklin promised quick action.
Within 24-hours Press Secretary Tim McNulty had a plan.
"We will have contractors there this week," says McNulty. He also promised social service agencies will meet with the carters to see if they need any further assistance.
"I am so thankful. This is wonderful," says Carter. Meantime, the city is looking at whether the process of tearing down homes and repairing the "party wall" can be streamlined.
