Get Marty: Girl Scout Asks For Help To Donate Blankets, Cookies To Magee NICU Babies

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 7-year-old girl with a big heart just reached out to our Get Marty.

Brianna Lattner sent KDKA's Marty Griffin this e-mail:

"Hello Marty. My name is Brianna and I'm 7-years-old. I'm a Girl Scout Brownie. We are doing the Gift of Caring badge. My troop decided to donate Girl Scout cookies and baby blankets to the NICU babies at Magee Hospital. There are 77 babies in the unit. We are having trouble getting the money together to buy cookies and the blankets. We were hoping you could help us."

Brianna needed $1,000 to get the job done.

"I just knew we had to hurry up and get in there to help," says Dennis Sabatini.

Sabatini is with the McGuire Memorial Foundation. McGuire provides comprehensive services for hundreds of folks with special needs.

Sabatini stepped up with a $1,000 check for Brianna and the Girl Scouts.

"The parents of those girls are great role models. They teach those girls how to help those less fortunate than them," says Sabatini.

Brianna and her mother will now buy the material for the blankets. They will deliver all of the goodies to the babies at Magee-Womens Hospital early next month.

"Thank you, Marty. Thank you, McGuire Memorial," says Brianna.

The 7-year-old couldn't be happier.
