UNIONTOWN (KDKA) – A garbage truck crashed into the Uniontown Police Station Monday morning.

According to officials at the scene, the truck was picking up trash in the area when the brakes gave out.

"It shook the building," said Uniontown Police Captain David Rutter. "One of our police cars was coming back to the station from a call and they missed getting hit by the truck by about 15 seconds."

As a result, the truck slammed into the side of the police station and left a gaping hole.

The accident happened close to the courthouse which usually creates traffic on the road. According to police, the road was rather vacant due to the courthouse being closed on Columbus Day.

The truck also hit two police cars, but there are no reported injuries.
