Furry Tails: Searching For A Forever Home (1/4)

Are you looking to bring a pet into your home? Local animal shelters are a great place to find a furry companion. So, as part of Furry Tails, I'll be doing an ongoing feature on adoptable pets from local animal shelters once a week. If you have room in your heart and are looking to bring a lovable ball of fur into your home, maybe one of these guys is meant to be a part of your family!

Kira

Animal Rescue League
Are you the adventurous type? Maybe looking for a furry companion to go on fun journeys with? Well, Kira might just be the playful pup for you! She's waiting for her forever home at the Animal Rescue League.

Animal Rescue League says:
"This 40-pound bundle of happy energy is a 3-year-old pit bull mix named Kira.

"She loves playing with people and other dogs, so if you are looking for a playmate for your current canines, bring them in for a meet-and-greet to see if they get along!!! She has recently gone on a few cage breaks to a volunteer's home and has done very well with all of the dogs there including a small dog. She will happily share toys and likes to play tug, too.

"Kira is an energetic girl and can be a little jumpy, but with regular exercise she settles down nicely. Once she's had a chance to burn off some energy, she loves to cuddle and relax. She is very food-motivated and learns new commands quickly. She has "sit" and "down" under her belt already and is coming along nicely with learning "leave it." Kira is a "Life of the Party" on the ASPCA's Meet Your Match assessment, which means she is high-energy and loves people--she'll be willing to join you on any adventure you have in mind! Come meet Kira at the ARL, you will be amazed by her constantly cheerful and happy-go-lucky attitude.

"If you'd like Kira to be your new companion in fun adventures, come meet her at the ARL soon!"

Kira is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations and microchipped.

For more information on Kira, and other adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, and small animals, visit www.animalrescue.org or call 412-661-6452 ext 215. The Animal Rescue League is located at 6620 Hamilton Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pa., and is open daily.

Animal Friends says:
"Coco Paw is a lovely cat who has become a staff and volunteer favorite. She is a beautiful lady with lots of thick luxurious fur. She feels that she should be more than enough pet for any family and believes that she should be the center of someone's universe. She would enjoy a home with a person all her own who would indulge her every whim.

"Ms. Coco is very affectionate, and will give you plenty of lady-like head-butts to show her devotion. At 16 pounds, she embodies the idea of "more to love;" however, she has been making progress on slimming down! She's down to nearly 13 pounds, which is wonderful.

"Coco Paw is on a special diet to make sure she does not get urinary tract infections. This takes all the guess work out of the pet-food aisle of the grocery store! Your adoption counselor will be able to explain her dietary needs.

"Do you have a sunny window or a comfy chair? Can't you just picture her cuddled up there? Coco Paw would love to help make your house a home."

Coco Paw has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

If you can help, come to Animal Friends at 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15237 or call 412-847-7002. For more information on how you can adopt any of the pets at Animal Friends, visit their website here!
