Former Sports Agent Examines Steelers' Salary Cap
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Former Sports Agent Joel Corry wrote for CBSSports.com about every AFC team's salary cap and contract question, including the Steelers and what they should do with Ben Roethlisberger.
Corry discussed the contract length and value he thinks the Steelers will be looking at as part of their negotiations with Roethlisberger.
Corry said that in order to keep Roethlisberger paid in line with the other elite quarterbacks like he was in his last contract, which was for eight years and $102 million, they're looking at a new deal in the $20.75 million range per year.
Reports came out yesterday after Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert met with members of the media that the team has already begun discussions with Roethlisberger and his agent about a new deal.
Colbert certainly made it sound like they don't have many fears of Roethlisberger wearing down in his latter years as the 32-year-old is entering his 12th year in the NFL.
Colbert said, "Ben's a franchise quarterback that's getting better with age. I think he's going to be a better quarterback down the road."
