Football May Be The Smallest Part Of Super Bowl Sunday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Aside from the fact that our beloved Steelers didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year, there's another reason you might not be all that excited for today's big game.

There's only 17 minutes of football.

Yes, you read that right.

NPR reports that last year's game only showed 17, or 17-and-a-half to be exact, minutes of actual football action, according to a study by the Media Education Foundation.

The Media Education Foundation says that's what we can expect again this year, too.

Fortunately there will be lots of other things to look forward to, like Katy Perry's halftime show, those long-anticipated Super Bowl commercials and, of course, the snack table.

Will this impact how you watch the big game?
