Flyers Unveil 50th Anniversary Gold Jerseys, Twitter Reacts

In Pittsburgh, the color gold is associated with our great sports teams.

For the Penguins, they've officially made the switch to "Pittsburgh Gold" full-time for their road and away uniforms.

That move marked the end of the "Vegas Gold" era, which most fans were excited to see.

Gold is also associated with 50th anniversaries. That is significant because the Penguins will be celebrating their 50th anniversary season this season.

The Philadelphia Flyers will also be celebrating the same anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, they designed new jerseys, which we unveiled on Wednesday.

Take a look:

As you can see, the logo has a gold ring around it and the numbers are the same gold color. Sure looks like the Flyers claimed the Penguins' "Vegas Gold" leftovers doesn't it?

Maybe it's their way of congratulating the Penguins on winning the Stanley Cup...for the fourth time since they last won it...in 1975.

Not surprisingly, Flyers fans are divided about the gold. Some Penguins fans couldn't help but offer their opinions as well.
