Heavy Rain Leads To Flooded Roads

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Heavy rain led to flooding and closed roads Monday morning.

PennDOT closed down Union Avenue in Bellevue but opened it back up before noon as the water receded.

It was a similar story across the county with a few isolated incidents. In Millvale, Commercial Street had rising waters. Seavey Road in Shaler and Rochester Road in Franklin Park were both closed due to rising waters.

PennDOT says it's an evolving situation and crews will continue to monitor as more rain moves in this afternoon.

One warning from the road crews is to drive slow as the rain picks up. In Lawrence County, police say a car went around a bend too quickly and overturned in a river. The driver did get out safely.

The one other incident this morning in Franklin Park was a minor landslide. That happened on Reis Run Road and PennDOT has reopened it.

Meteorologist Kristin Emery says we'll have a bit of a lull in the rain in the early afternoon with the chance for some showers and thunderstorms popping up the rest of the afternoon and early evening thanks to this cold front stalling out to our south.

A Flood Advisory was issued but expired at 1:30 p.m.
