Flash Flood Watch Issued With More Rain & Storms Expected

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Some powerful storms moved through the area on Tuesday, but more of the same is expected today.

According to Meteorologist Dennis Bowman, more rain will fall from time to time across the area today.

Bowman expects to see some thunderstorms in a scattered fashion in the afternoon as well. Some of the downpours could be heavy.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland Counties through this evening.

This comes in the wake of 1-3 inches of rain that soaked the area over the last 24 hours.

  • Pittsburgh Manchester - North Side

Edgewood Elementary in the Woodland Hills School District is also closed due to a power outage.

As of 9 a.m., Duquesne Light was working to restore power to about 1,800 customers. They expected to have service fully restored by 4 p.m.

Today's high will be 78 degrees with an overnight low of 59 degrees/ A couple of showers will still be around this evening as well.

After a morning shower on Thursday, the process of drying out begins with afternoon sun and a high of 74 degrees.
