First Trailer For Pittsburgh Filmed "Southpaw" Movie Released

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The first trailer for "Southpaw," the boxing movie filmed in Pittsburgh has been released.

The movie was filmed in the Pittsburgh area last summer, and previously filmed in Indiana, Pa., in June.

"Southpaw" is a boxing movie from the Weinstein Company directed by Pittsburgh native Antoine Fuqua.

It features Jake Gyllenhaal as a violent Junior Middleweight Champion.

The movie also stars Rachel McAdams, 50 Cent, Rita Ora, Forest Whitaker, and Lupita Nyong'o.

Downtown Pittsburgh was transformed into New York City for the movie.

The former Saks building was turned into Madison Square Garden.

A banner advertising "the light heavyweight championship" boxing match between Gyllenhaal's Billy Hope and another boxer hung outside the building.

New York City taxi cabs and police cars were also seen on Smithfield Street.

A Carrick gym was also featured in the movie.

The movie is slated to be released July 31.
