3 Homes Damaged By Midland Fire, 7 People Displaced

MIDLAND (KDKA) -- Fire broke out at a duplex Tuesday night, sending emergency crews to Midland, Beaver County.

The fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. along West Midland Avenue and quickly spread to two other homes.

Neighbors said the damage could have been a lot worse, but the fire station is just a couple blocks away.

One neighbor heard popping and initially thought someone was setting off fireworks.

"I came to the door and saw nothing but flames and the heat was intense. Literally, my door was too hot to touch, that's how hot it was burning," one neighbor said.

At one point, firefighters reported smelling gas in the area.

It is unclear if anyone was inside the homes when the fire started, but there are no reported injuries.

The Red Cross is assisting six adults and a child.

The affected homes are believed to be about 120 years old and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
