Springdale Fire Injures 1, Destroys Home

SPRINGDALE (KDKA) -- Crews battled a house fire late Thursday night in Springdale and at least one person was injured.

The flames were reported just before 10:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Butler Street.

When firefighters arrived, the back of the home was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters say they were able to get the initial knockdown done by 11 p.m., but had to stay until around 2 a.m. to monitor hot spots.

One woman was taken to the hospital with minor burns.

The home has been determined to be structurally unsound and will need to be torn down. A backhoe was brought in to do that, but because the ground was so saturated with water, it got stuck.

At the time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
