Firefighters respond to one-alarm fire at Phipps Conservatory

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Public Safety said Monday that firefighters were called to a one-alarm fire on Frank Curto Drive just before 9:30 p.m. on Friday at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden.

According to a Phipps Conservatory spokesperson, the fire occurred in the production greenhouse that is used for orchid cultivation, but it was confined to a small space. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

All of the automatic systems worked correctly and per the spokesperson, the staff did an excellent job of ensuring safety.

No one was injured.
