Michelle Schmuck says it was her son who woke up to the dog barking, and when she looked outside, neighbors were yelling for them to get out of the house.

"And they said the house was on fire and we needed to get out of the house," Schmuck said.

"So we all grabbed some things and we got out of the house. And there's not much more to tell. I'm just thankful to be alive. I'm thankful that we're out of the house and that we're safe. But I feel sorry that we lost everything," Schmuck said.

The fire damaged two homes in total and the cause is under investigation.
