Man, 3 Cats Killed In Fayette County Fire

FAYETTE COUNTY (KDKA) -- A man was killed in a Fayette County house fire early Sunday morning.

The fire occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Bull Run Road in Luzerne Township, and a woman escaped.

"Upon arrival to the scene, a female reported a male was still trapped inside, reports that he awoke her from sleep to exit the building that was on fire," Hiller Volunteer Fire Company Chief Scott Dolan.

Officials believe the victim may have stayed behind to try and rescue animals. Three cats were also killed in the fire.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

A fire marshal is investigating, initial reports indicate the fire was caused by an electrical issue.
