Fayette Co. American Legion Post Closed Over Rowdy History

TROTTER (KDKA) -- An American Legion post in Fayette County is apparently too rowdy to stay open.

The District Attorney declared Post 762 in Trotter to be a nuisance bar and shut it down.

The decision came after years of reports alleging harassment, disorderly conduct, fights and sexual activities in the parking lot.

The state legion has now withdrawn the post's charter, removed the liquor license and changed the locks.

"We want to keep it open; we don't want to close an American Legion post, because it's veterans," said Jim Killinger, of American Legion 24th District.

The state convention is this summer, and officials will vote to determine if Post 762 needs to reorganize or will remain closed.
