Police Continue Investigation Into Penn Hills Fatal Hit-And-Run As Victim Is Laid To Rest

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- Police have new information in the investigation into a fatal hit-and-run in Penn Hills.

Fifty-one-year-old Joseph Morris, of Penn Hills, was laid to rest Thursday. He was the victim of a hit-and-run accident on April 28.

"That was very, very difficult, you know, because we don't have the closure. This was so unforeseen, obviously, so tragic," Lisa Morris, the victim's sister, told KDKA News.

The driver of the car who struck Morris has not been identified or charged.

"We just want to put Joe truly to rest and be at peace with what happened ... We don't know the [whole] story. All we know is that he was dragged for a half a mile," Morris said.

Allegheny County Police say Morris was walking home from work when he was struck on Hershey Road. He found in front of 1841 Universal Road and pronounced dead at the scene.

Analyzing vehicle parts found at the scene of the accident, County Police said Thursday the hit-and-run vehicle was likely was a 2002 Saturn SL, or SL2 sedan believed to be silver blue in color.

"I went to the scene today for the first time and drove that road, and I'm heartbroken. I was really was hoping today was the day we were gonna hear they had an arrest," Morris said.

There is a $13,000 reward in the case.
