Hutchison has not yet been charged in connection with Tuesday's deadly crash which led to a chaotic afternoon on the Parkway West.

As police and paramedics raced to free victims trapped in the wreckage, they realized the driver of the white Honda was gone. State police say he took off, running down the Carnegie exit ramp on the Parkway West.

Meanwhile, inside the vehicle, a female later died at the hospital and two other passengers were injured. They are expected to survive.

"During the investigation, it was determined that a white Honda Civic was traveling at a high rate of speed in the left lane prior to the Carnegie exit and attempted to change into the right lane and struck the rear end of the vehicle that was in the left lane," State Trooper Melinda Bondarenka said. "Once they struck the rear end of that vehicle, they spun out."

There were three other vehicles involved – a pickup truck, another Honda Coupe and a tractor trailer.

"You've got to look at all the damage to all the vehicles," Bondarenka said. "Look at the markings on the roadway and try to figure out through the damage on the roadway, the markings on the pavement and witnesses statements what occurred and piece it together."

Police are interviewing Hutchison, of Carnegie. He is in the hospital as of 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

Witnesses at the GetGo told KDKA Hutchison ran into the CVS across the street, then into the GetGo parking lot.

The driver of the tractor-trailer did try to avoid the wreckage, but was unable to stop. The driver of the pickup truck was also not injured. The driver of the other Honda was hurt and was taken to the hospital.
