Young Girl Dies In North Mahoning Twp. House Fire

NORTH MAHONING TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) – A house fire early Sunday morning in Indiana County claimed the life of a young girl.

Perry Township Fire Chief Tim Fetterhoff said a call came in just before 7 a.m. of a structure fire in North Mahoning Township with possible entrapment.

When firefighters arrived at the home on Route 119 Rochester Mills, they learned a man and his two daughters were home at the time of the fire.

One of the two daughters, believed to be 11 or 12 years old, was trapped inside a bedroom on the second floor. Firefighters were unable to rescue her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man and his other daughter were both transported to a local hospital by medical helicopter to be treated for injuries.

The cause of the fire in not believed to be suspicious, but the coroner, state police and fire marshal are investigating.
